The EU Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) is celebrating its first birthday. ACER became operational exactly one year ago, on 3 March 2011.
Based in Ljubljana, Slovenia, the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators’ main task is working closely with independent EU national regulatory authorities from the field of energy, as well as other European institutions and market participants in establishing a single energy market for Europe. It is the goal of the European Union that by 2014 Europe will have in place a competitive, sustainable, secure and transparent energy market with trans-European energy infrastructure.
To celebrate its first year of operation, ACER will on 14 March 2012 organize its first annual conference, at which participants will discuss what has been achieved thus far in establishing a single EU energy market and what still remains to be done.
