Safer Internet Day 2013: online rights and responsibilities

Today, February 5 marks the 10th Safer Internet Day. This year the event is organized under the tagline ‘online rights and responsibilities’.

Safer Internet Day or SID takes place on the second day of the second week of the second month of every year and is celebrated in more than 90 countries worldwide.

Created with the goal of promoting responsible use of the internet by children and young people and protecting them from illegal and harmful content and conduct online, SID is led by Insafe, the European network of internet awareness centres.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of SID. Safer Internet Day 2013 will be organized under the theme ‘Online rights and responsibilities’ and users will be encouraged to ‘Connect with respect’.

Accompanying the day will be several events organized across the globe.
